HEALTH PROMOTION

Health Maintenance Program
Serves Senior Citizens and disabled persons age 60 and over by providing health screenings, education, information and referral. Services provided: Blood Pressure, Medication setup, Hemoglobin, Injections, Blood sugar, foot care, Colo-Rectal cancer screening, Health education and counseling.

Adult Health Screenings
Services provided to for all adults: Blood pressure, Hemoglobin, Blood sugar, Throat Culturs, Injections - mental health, and Educational presentation and materials.

Women's Way Program
Early breast and cervical cancer detection screening program. Free breast and cervical cancer screening such as mammograms, clinical breast exams, pelvic exams and pap smears available to eligible women age 40 to 64.

Tobacco Prevention and Control
"Working to improve the health of our communities by promoting tobacco-free lifestyles" through prevention, public education, cessation, promotion of smoke-free environments. Located at 2893 3rd Avenue West, Suite 101. 483-3760

COMMUNICABLE DISEASE CONTROL

Immunizations
that are recommended/required for children, including polio, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, measles, mumps, rubella, HIB, Hepatitis B, varicella (chickenpox).

It is recommended that adults receive the Tb (Tetanus, diptheria) vaccine every 10 years. Adult and adolescent hepatitis B vaccine, pneumonia and influenza immunizations are also available

Tuberculosis Testing
Skin test for tuberculosis infection. TB medication provided through ND State Health Department per physician prescription

Skin and Scalp Conditions
such as lice, etc.

HIV/AIDS
Free confidential testing, Pre and Post test counseling, Ryan White.

EMERGENCY PREPARDNESS AND RESPONSE

Planning, preparedness and response for public health emergencies, public education and partnerships for enhanced regional response plans and capabilities.

Providing a variety of services and programs that maintain or improve the health status of the general population and their environment through Community Health Nursing, Environmental Health/Sanitation and Nutrition Services.

MATERNAL & CHILD HEALTH SERVICES

North Dakota Health Tracks
This program provides free preventative health care screenings, information, follow-up and referral for diagnosis and treatment to Medicaid eligible participants from newborn to age 21.

Newborn Postpartum Home Visits
A Public Health Nurse will make a free home visit to a newborn and family. A health assessment is provided for both mother and infant. Educational materials are provided.

Prenatal Classes
"For the Love of Baby"
Prenatal classes are offered every other month for 4 weekly sessions from 6:30 to 9pm in Dickinson. Classes cover body changes, fetal development, nutrition, postpartum and newborn care.

OPOP - Optimal Pregnancy Outcome Program
Monthly health sessions for pregnant mothers to provide supplemental health care by nursing, social and nutritional services.

WIC (Women, Infants and Children Program)
IC is a nutrition information and food program for pregnant women, infants and children to age five. The program is funded by the Department of Agriculture (USDA) and eligibility is based on nutrition and income guidelines.

WIC staff provide factual nutrition information to parents and their children to ensure optimum growth and development. Medical screening and diet assessments are provided.

Permanent offices are located in Dickinson and Bowman. Monthly clinics are held at New England, Killdeer, Richardton, Beach, Belfield and Mott. For further information, call 483-1942 or 1-800-697-3145.

Car Seat Rental Program
Promotes child passenger safety through education. Infant, toddler and booster seats for rent at nominal fee.

Promotes oral health of maternal and child health population through education and information

ENVIROMENTAL HEALTH

Provides protection from disease, injury and pollution by working with public facilities to ensure safe food, water, daycare and swimming pools. Each year, over 400 facilities are inspected for health and safety and over 1,700 water samples are tested for contamination. Education is provided on a wide variety of environmental issues/concerns.
